OPEN ACCESS is an insider’s sneak peek program that discusses lessons learned from some of the most innovative community building and last mile solutions in the region.


  • Showcase Community Efforts & Expertise: Explore case studies in public private partnerships, community leadership and leveraging resources to deliver a new innovative community asset.
  • Educate: With key stakeholders, civic leaders, elected officials and other nonprofits assembled we will discuss the complexities of community building and how mobility can help address each community’s goals and objectives.  Ultimately, participants will better understand the relationship between the mobility investments we make today and our communities’ development, prosperity and health of tomorrow.
  • Engage: OPEN ACCESS will be an opportunity to re-engage the over 680 graduates of the Citizens’ Academy and bring them together with other thought leaders in transit, TOD and other mobility options.
  • Motivate: This program is a recruiting tool for applicants for the Citizens’ Academy held twice per year and other one-day Academies held in the region.

This event featured speakers from across the nation and featured:
• The potential of shared mobility services nationally and in the Denver region
• Making it easy and appealing to live and/or work without the need to own a car
• Making mobility services available in lower-density and lower-income neighborhoods
• Reducing trips and greenhouse gas emissions
• Providing affordable access to opportunity for people of all ages and incomes

Program Overview:

Major employers along the South I-25 corridor are drawing their workforce from north, south, east and west.  And the days of only car commuting are fading into the past.  Employees want to have the freedom of choice to explore options beyond their privately owned vehicles.  In the case of Southeast Denver there are unique opportunities and challenges to connecting the workforce with transportation options.  This session will create a pro-active dialogue among leaders that have been finding new and innovative approaches to providing employees and employers with more choices.

Lauren Masias strives to enhance mobility throughout the Denver South Corridor through the creation of new transportation demand management programs that offer employees working in the corridor choices in their commute options. Through marketing campaigns and outreach efforts Lauren works keeps employers engaged in transportation and infrastructure related issues. Lauren is a proud Colorado native and has been living in the Denver Metro area since 2007.

Jessica is a graduate of the East Corridor Four-Week Citizens’ Academy.

Daniel Hutton’s professional experience in the public, private and non-profit sectors allows him to effectively lead the the i-team to achieve their mission of “embedding and accelerating innovation in government.” Daniel was instrumental in crafting Centennial’s i-team grant proposal and developing its overall program, including its core priorities of transportation and mobility in Centennial’s suburban setting. Daniel is a graduate of the Citizens’ Academy.

Dennis Huspeni
Director of Regional Communications Fidelity Investments in Colorado and Utah

As the director of regional communications for Fidelity, Dennis Huspeni’s duties include external, executive and corporate communications. The Denver native has 26 years of journalism experience writing for some of the biggest newspapers in the United States. He covered real estate and retail for the Denver Business Journal from 2011-2014. Huspeni, a University of Colorado at Boulder graduate, lives in Parker with his wife and has two adult daughters.
